Chief Economist Panel Debate
On 14 June, CEUTIA, the Business Council of Canada, and ECIPE hosted the inaugural Canada-EU Chief Economist Panel Debate. Economists Jean-Francois Perrault (Scotiabank), Peter Vanden Houte (ING Business Belgium), Robert Asselin (Business Council of Canada), and Erik van der Marel (ECIPE), moderated by Paola Tamma (Financial Times), discussed economic outlooks, trade relations, geopolitical challenges, and upcoming elections. Mark Camilleri, CEUTIA President, delivered the opening and closing remarks. The event highlighted the importance of strengthening the Canada-EU economic relationship.
Meeting of CanChams of Europe: Leveraging the Network
Representatives of Canadian bilateral chambers and business associations (CanChams) in Europe met in Madrid for the first hybrid meeting of the CanChams of Europe. Organized by CEUTIA and Cámara de Comercio Canadá España (CCCE), the event aimed to enhance the Canada-Europe business network, share best practices, and foster collaboration. Key participants included Canadian Ambassador to Spain Wendy Drukier, Chief Trade Commissioner Sara Wilshaw, and Canadian Ambassador to the EU Dr. Ailish Campbell.
The CETA Series, Episode 3: The Company Perspective
CEUTIA organized the third installment of the CETA Series for the Canadian Mission to the European Union. The event examined the Canada-EU relationship at a company level, featuring Umicore CEO Mathias Miedreich in conversation with Canadian Ambassador Dr. Ailish Campbell. Discussions included insights into Umicore's EV battery materials plant in Ontario and a panel on the challenges and opportunities faced by businesses, highlighting CETA's role in supporting trans-Atlantic trade beyond tariff reduction.

Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Networking Breakfast
